Finding the way to
your hidden nest
Woodnest is tucked away in the serene Norwegian woods, overlooking the majestic fjords. Although remote, it's easy to find with a bit of planning.
Your adventure begins with a scenic 20-60 minute steep hike up the woods. Starting from the parking area at Kleivavegen 21, Odda, the trail takes you up a mountainside, offering stunning views of the fjord and the surrounding nature.

For those driving, parking is available at Kleivavegen 21. The drive from Bergen to Odda takes around 3 hours, offering beautiful views along the way. Take the route via Tørvikbygd/Jondal which includes a drive-on ferry. Once you arrive and park, follow the signs to the beginning of the trail that will lead you to your treehouse.
The nearest airport is Bergen Airport, Flesland. From the airport, you can rent a car and make your way to Odda. The roads are prepped in case of snow, and rental cars will have winter tyres during the winter season, which makes it achievable for the average driver. The journey from Bergen to Woodnest by car takes around 3 hours.
If you’re traveling by public transport, take the 930 bus from downtown Bergen bus station. It only has two departures daily that will get you to Odda before dark. Once arrived in Odda, you can do the 10-15 minute walk passing a few grocery stores on the way, or catch a taxi to the trailhead at Kleivavegen 21.

As the snow melts and the woods awaken, spring at Woodnest is a time of renewal. The air is fresh, and the forest comes alive with vibrant greens and blooming wildflowers. It’s the perfect season for peaceful hikes and watching the landscape burst into life.
Summer brings long, sun-filled days and the chance to fully explore the surrounding nature. Hike through the lush woods, enjoy panoramic views of the fjord, and take advantage of the warm weather. The days are perfect for outdoor adventures, while the evenings invite you to relax in the peaceful quiet of your treehouse.
Autumn paints the woods in rich colors of red, orange, and gold. The crisp air and the rustling leaves create a magical atmosphere, perfect for cozy evenings spent nestled in your treehouse. It’s a beautiful time for hiking and witnessing the transformation of the Norwegian landscape.
If you’re lucky, winter at Woodnest becomes a snowy wonderland. Snow-covered mountaintops create a serene, quiet beauty. Enjoy the warmth of your cozy treehouse or take a peaceful walk through the woods, with or without snow.
Good to know
Fly in to Bergen Airport and rent a car to do the 3 hour drive to Odda. The best route is via Jondal/Tørvikbygd which involves a drive-on ferry. You do not have to prebook the ferry. If you travel by public transport, you can take the 930 bus that leaves twice daily from downtown Bergen bus station.

We have free parking for our guests at the starting point of the hike to the treehouses.

The hike can be challenging, depending on your fitness levels and weather. There is a combination of steel and wooden steps, stone path and uneven levels. The hike is steep, and we recommend that you carefully consider wether you are capable before booking.
As breathtaking as the view overlooking the fjord is, you will notice a factory set in the fjord with lights and steam. Although it is one of the most climate effective zinc factories in the world, it might disrupt the pure natural beauty for some.
Woodnest has a total of four treehouses; two Originals and two Mountaintops. Each treehouse is perfect for two people. Our “Original” treehouses have a max capacity of four persons, while our “Mountaintop” treehouses have a max capacity of two persons.
The only food service we offer is the Lovenest package - a welcome snack platter - and only if ordered.
The Norwegian "cabin tradition" includes bringing your own groceries and making simple and tasty meals in the treehouse.
Yes! We have a small kitchenette with two induction hot plates, a sink and small fridge. We also provide saucepans and frying pans, cooking utensils and basic cooking essentials like oil, salt and pepper. If cooking is not your thing, we have provided suggestions for local dine-in and takeaway.
The toilet and shower are inside the treehouse (we know, can you believe it?!). Once you have arrived in the nest, you will not have to leave to take care of any of your “business”. Towels and toilet paper are provided for our guests
Children are only allowed in the Original Treehouses. Children must be supervised by their parent/guardians at all times. Before bringing children to Woodnest, you should consider additional factors such as steep hills and uneven grounds, steep stairs and cliff edges. Young children will need to be assisted when walking up to the treehouse. We do not have cots or travel beds, you cannot push a stroller up there. We have high chairs, but please notify us when booking if you need a high chair.
Unfortunately, based on the location of the treehouses, we are unable to provide any alternate options for those who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
We recommend leaving behind anything that you do not need to bring in your locked car. If you are not comfortable with leaving it in your car, or if you do not have your own car, please contact us before check-in, and we will give you descriptions to a small storage room connected to the parking garage.
Yes, you can enjoy fresh Norwegian water from the tap.
In general you are not allowed to fly a drone during your stay. This is to protect the privacy of our guests. You are only permitted to fly a drone if you contact us beforehand. And only as long as it does not intrude on the areas close to or overlooking the other treehouses.
It is extremely rare to see the aurora borealis from our location. You will normally have to travel to the north of Norway to be able to see them.
No. In weekends there is a minimum two-night booking policy. There is no checkin or checkout on Saturdays.
No. The weather can be quite unpredictable in this part of Norway. The best chance of snow is from mid-January to the end of February, but there might also be snow from November to end of March, but there is never a guarantee of snow.
If you arrive with an electric car, you will find a charging station located at the parking lot of the local grocery store.
